About the Festival

The Sejong International Music Festival differs from other festivals in that it happens twice a year,  once in Seoul South Korea during the winter and once in Philadelphia at the Curtis Institute of Music during the summer.  The idea behind the festival came from the president of the MSO Corporation in Korea.  It seems that a festival that could be a true connection between the East and the West. A “musical Bridge” so to speak.  I hope to create an environment that foster inspirations and continued learning among the students.

Mission Statement

It is with with great pleasure that we announce the launch of the Sejong International Music Festival.  The Festival will bring together East and West in the most literal sense: it will take place in Seoul, South Korea each February, and in the United States each August, at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.  What sets this festival apart is its strong belief in a true exchange between cultures.  It is our hope that in a festival like this, students and faculty will all learn and benefit from each other.  The main focus of the festival will be on private lessons and chamber music, with many opportunities for the students to perform in both masterclasses and concerts.  We will accept students aged 14 and up in piano, violin, viola and cello.  Please come and join us at the beginning of this exciting new journey.

Please click the green button at right to upload either video or audio of at least 15 min. Audition must include three contrasting selections of music; a solo Bach, a classical period work and one other work of stylistic contrasts.
